According to official figures, the number of bank branches across Scotland reduced by a third between 2010 and 2017. The The Economy, Jobs and Fair Work Committee has launched a short inquiry with the following remit:

"To examine the impact of bank branch closures in Scotland on local businesses, consumers and the Scottish economy and to explore what steps can be taken to address any issues identified by the Committee"

The Committee has issued a general call for views on Thursday 8 March on its inquiry on the impact on local businesses and consumers of bank closures. The committee seeks views and experiences of as many people, businesses and organisations as possible. There are two ways to submit;

1. Written submissions for which the deadline is Friday 13 April 2018. Read more here.
2. The Committee's online survey which closes on Friday 23 March 2018, which can be found here.

Further information on the inquiry can be found on the committee's Current Business page.
