Cross-party group on Culture and Communities at the Scottish Parliament

For session 7 of the Scottish Parliament (2026-2031) Culture Counts co-organises the Cross-Party Group (CPG) on Culture and Communities alongside the Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC) and the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals in Scotland (CILIPS).
CPGs are for groups of MSPs and non-MSPs who are interested in a particular subject or issue. This group brings together MSPs and members from across and beyond the culture sector to discuss the role of arts and culture in communities across Scotland. It provides a space to share perspectives, build connections and explore how culture can widen access and contribute to wider priorities including health, education, prevention and community participation.

CPG Culture & Communities (2021-2026)
The purpose of the Culture & Communities Group was to encourage the exchange of knowledge and understanding between the Scottish Parliament and arts, culture, heritage, and historic environment communities.
CPG Creative Economy (2021-2024)
The purpose of the Creative Economy group was to exchange ideas and learning about the development and support of the future creative economy. The group will consider support for creative economy in Scotland, exploring barriers to success and highlighting any potential solutions.
CPG Culture (2018-2021)
In 2018, Culture Counts took over from Creative Scotland as secretariat the Scottish Parliament Cross Party Group on Culture.
