Cabinet Secretary Responses to CTEEA

We've highlighted two bits of correspondence between the Culture Committee at Scottish Parliament (CTEEA) and Cabinet Secretaries for Fiance & Culture.

Fiona Hyslop MSP, Cabinet Secretary For Economy, Fair Pay and Culture recently wrote to the committee in response to the Arts Funding Inquiry Report.

New Funding Announced

We're pleased to see that The Scottish Government announced new funding for the self-employed on 15th April. With the announcement of £100 million available to protect self-employed people and viable micro businesses and SMEs . Culture Counts has asked for assurances that these funds will include creative and cultural businesses; whose models are are often non-traditional and may be mis-understood.

Culture Minister

We met with the Culture Minister on 2 April 2020. To put forward your issues and survey responses (verbally and in writing) we said:

A. The Creative Scotland Bursary Scheme for Freelancers was over subscribed and that funding from Scot Gov should go to Creative Scotland to distribute to the sector.

B. Cultural Trusts are uncertain about furlough eligibility; and this needs a remedy or many face going into administration within 6 weeks.
