New Scottish Government Funding Announced

The Scottish Government has announced the Second phase of funding to protect businesses against the effects of COVID-19. The new package of measures includes an extension to the Small Business Grant scheme.

£100 million is available to self-employed people and viable micro businesses and SMEs. The fund will go through local authorities and enterprise agencies. It targets newly self-employed people and businesses who are ineligible for other Scottish Government or UK Government schemes. Applications for the £100 million fund will be open by the end of April.

Finance Secretary Kate Forbes said:

The Scottish Government’s primary concern remains protecting people’s health, but it is still the case that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak is having severe economic consequences for businesses around the country.

We're pleased to see that The Scottish Government announced new funding for the self-employed on 15th April. With the announcement of £100 million available to protect self-employed people and viable micro businesses and SMEs . Culture Counts has asked for assurances that these funds will include creative and cultural businesses; whose models are are often non-traditional and may be mis-understood.
