The Culture Counts network is Scotland’s network for the arts, heritage and creative industries. As a network, we advocate for the development and protection of culture as fundamental to our common future.
Our core members represent or support organisations or individuals who form part of this creative ecosystem, typically specialising by artform, geography, demographics or employment type. Some of our members are Scotland-specific, while others are UK-wide, but with a significant focus on work in Scotland.
What unites our core members is a) a remit to represent or work on behalf of part of the sector and b) a commitment to work collaboratively to promote and protect the sector as a whole.
More information about membership can be found here

Our steering group consists of between nine and twelve Core Members who support the team to develop our strategy. They contribute to open letters to ministers, action plans, and collective policy submissions. There are usually between eight to ten meetings annually.

The EDI co-learning working group is funded by Paul Hamlyn Foundation to examine how to improve EDI in our organisations. The work began in 2022 and was refreshed and relaunched in 2025, in partnership with the Equal Media and Culture Centre Scotland.
At the end of 2025 we committed to handing over lead partner status for the final phase of this work to our friends at Creative Balance. You can read more about this decision here.
