Write to Your MP - Support Payments for Self-Employed
We warmly welcome the unprecedented support for employees that the UK Government announced on Friday; however we’re concerned that the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme excludes many workers, including the self-employed, gig economy workers and, potentially, those on zero-hour contracts.
The cultural sector represent 4.5% of all UK employment; 37% of workers in the sector are self-employed, a rate 2.5 times higher than the wider workforce. (1)
