BBC Radio Scotland music output tracker
A new tracker, culturalvandalism.info, has been set up to measure publicly available BBC Radio Scotland schedule, programme and music-played pages.
Led by Stephen McAll of Constant Follower, it is a response to changes at BBC Scotland which have prompted concerns of a reduction in the national platform available to Scottish artists, especially independent, emerging and female-led artists.
Drawing from BBC Radio Scotland's published schedule, programme and music-played pages, it compares current output against the same time-slots one, two and five years ago. It counts the share of plays going to Scottish artists, acts outside the major-label system, grassroots and suspected debut plays, and female-led acts.
The site is designed to be corrected. Classifications are reviewed, and figures may update when better evidence becomes available. The aim is not to freeze a perfect claim forever, but to maintain a transparent public record of what BBC Radio Scotland is playing and prioritising.
