Qualifications and assessments independent review: call for evidence

In October 2021, the Scottish Government announced the intention to reform qualifications and assessments.

An Independent Review Group led by Professor Louise Hayward are now consulting on different options for the future of qualifications and assessment.

The Independent Review Group’s work predominately covers qualifications at S4-S6 in school and ages 15-18 out with school, and will explore issues such as:

  • the purposes and uses of a qualification/exams system, including recognition of learning, accreditation, selection and accountability

  • consider the approaches to assessment in vocational and technical subjects and lessons that could be learned from these approaches

  • fairness, equity and the impact of different approaches to assessment for qualifications

  • from ideas to practice – the process of change and learning from our past

  • wider National and International approaches to the future of assessment and qualifications

The review is interested to hear from all those who are interested in the future of qualifications and assessment.

You can submit evidence until 16 December 2022.
