Hearts for the Arts 2019 - Open for Nominations

The Hearts for the Arts Awards celebrate cultural champions within Local Authorities, and the projects that place the arts at the centre of community life.

Nominations are now open for the 2019 Hearts for the Arts Awards. The Awards celebrate cultural champions within Local Authorities, and the projects that place the arts at the centre of community life.

Culture Counts is Scotland's partner for National Campaign for the Arts 'Hearts for the Arts Awards 2019'. Other UK partners are; UK Theatre; Local Government Association; TheatreNI; Voluntary Arts Wales; Wales Council for Voluntary Action and What Next?.

There are four annual Hearts For The Arts Awards. The Awards are an initiative of the National Campaign for the Arts. They campaign for greater public investment in the arts to improve the lives of people across the UK. UK Theatre deliver the awards; judged by a panel of esteemed figures in the arts.

 

Nominations

Voting opens on 12 September until 2 November. Members of the public, arts professionals and local authorities can visit the Awards webpage to put nominations forward for the following categories:

  • Best Local Authority Arts Initiative

  • Local Authority Arts Project Encouraging Community Cohesion

  • Best Local Authority Arts Champion – Councillor

  • Best Local Authority Arts Champion – Officer

 

Who can be nominated?

For Best Local Authority Arts Initiative & Best Local Authority Arts Project Encouraging Community Cohesion:

An initiative or project created or delivered by a county, district, borough, city council or cultural trust.

For Best Local Authority Arts Champion:

An individual whose work influences and encourages arts activities within their council area. The work you are nominating them for must have been undertaken as a direct part of their employment with a county, district, borough, city council or cultural trust (including cultural trusts delivering on behalf of their local authority).
