Cross Party Group on Culture

Culture Counts is secretariat of The Cross-Party Group on Culture (#CPGCulture). The group meets twice a year, and is hosted by our Convenor Joan McAlpine MSP, and Deputy Convenor Rachael Hamilton MSP.

The purpose of the group.

  • discuss cultural matters and ideas

  • put on engaging performances and guest speakers

  • an opportunity for stimulating discussion about ideas as well as processes/art forms

  • a platform for further and wider learning (making use of social media and podcasting)

  • a showcase for the arts in Parliament


What is a CPG?

Cross-Party Groups (CPGs) provide an opportunity for MSPs of all parties, outside organisations and members of the public to meet and discuss a shared interest in a particular cause or subject.

Anyone can join the #CPGCulture. Members have voting rights at our AGM, and are listed on the Scottish Parliament Website.
